Why is Louis Vuitton so bad ass!? Easily the most “I wish I was them” among all luxury brands (except maybe Chanel and the W), Louis Vuitton’s newest creation will open it’s doors on May 30th in Japan. Located in the Seibu department store in Ikebukuro. LOUIS VUITTON /underground/ is a concept store that will be open for a limited time.

This interactive experience to promote Nike’s Sports Wear (NSW) collection, comes all the way from Italy. Nike Stories is a beautiful site that connects both branded entertainment and ecommerce. Follow the life of 2 athletes and 2 DJs as they run around Rome and Milan wearing their favorite NSW pieces. Each video was shot using a fast series of photos to create this eye catching experience.
A few months ago, Google Japan created a short video for the YouTube audience to highlight the clean and simple interface of Google Chrome. Not surprisely the video caught the eye of many viewers, ranking up 2.5MM views in only 4 months. Now Google has decided to take the leap and launch their first true tv campaign through Google TV. The Google Blog goes on to say:
At the same time, we talked to our Google TV Ads team to see how we could show the video that our Japan team developed to a wider audience in a measurable way. Using some of the results from our placement-targeted ads on the Google Content Network, we designed a Google TV Ads campaign which we hope will raise awareness of our browser, and also help us better understand how television can supplement our other online media campaigns.
Wow, how times can I spell Google in one post.

Here are a few pieces that I have seen floating throughout the web these past few days. Instead of writing single posts for each one, I figured I would put them all into one giant post. Enjoy!

I guess when you are tired of fixing up your old car, the only thing to do is spray paint it. Sara Watson, an artist from The University of Central Lancashire made this incredible optical illusion using a few cans of paint and a battered Skoda Fabia.

A friend of mine hooked me up with this vid (thanks MT!). It totally cracked me up. Over the course of my career, I’ve had so many of these conversations. In one situation, a long time ago, my client actually agreed to approve a media plan if I could manage to squeeze a new desktop computer out of the deal and ship it to his house as “added value”. Shocking!!! I am sure you all have some terrific stories like this. I’d love to hear them. Hit the comment link above and let it rip.

Yellow Morel Mushrooms

Wild Leeks from The Hudson Valley
There’s nothing like Springtime in New York. When May finally rolls around here in the Mid-Hudson Valley (near Poughkeepsie, NY), the forest delivers an abundance of wild edibles that will expand your palette and challenge your culinary skills. These are but two great examples of what grows wild in NY, and are easy to find if you know what you’re doing.
The first image is of a bunch of Morel Mushrooms I found this Spring. These beauties are considered “choice” by most culinary types, and have a very unique and delicate flavor. They are sometimes difficult to locate due to their propensity to move from location to location year after year, along with only growing for about two weeks in early May under very specific conditions. Regardless, once you finally do discover what those specific conditions are, and what trees to look for, you end up finding them readily year after year. The Morel is easy to identify by its Pine Tree-like shape (the cap) and hollow stem. It’s toxic lookalike – the False Morel, is never Yellow or Black in color (The False Morel has a rust colored cap which takes on the shape of a brain), and never never has a hollow stem. So the chance of mistake is non-existent if you follow the rules. I’ve heard of people eating poisonous mushrooms and getting real sick or dying, but typically these cases are of people who “think” they know what they’re picking, and find out later in the hospital or the morgue, that they really didn’t do the research. They took a chance and they lacked experience. So, simple enough – read about the mushrooms, talk and hunt with experts who have the experience, and learn to identify them. If you’re not sure, throw it away. Go here to read up more on the elusive Morel.
The second image is The Wild Leek, known in West Virginia as “Ramps.” These garlic/scallion flavored plants are found in wet locations in April and May, and have a very satisfying and unique taste. They’re described as a cross between garlic and onion, but I find their taste far more complicated. To me, they definitely have that garlic/green onion immediate flavor and smell, but at closer inspection they are almost floral on the nose and smokey to taste – oddly enough! You find them in wooded areas, and they disappear in May when the trees take on foliage and the sunlight no longer hits the forest floor. They look like Lilly of the Valley and nothing like onion stalks, but they are easy to identify and are worth the hunt. Check them out at about.com.
I love these ads! The one above is the 4th in the series which began back on May 9th. Here are links to the other three:

After a 5 year hiatus, it seems Eminem can still sell records, while other artists are trying to just stay a float. By the end of last week, estimates had Eminem’s Relapse breaking the 600k mark and in the process capturing him his fifth consecutive #1 on the charts. These numbers are pretty impressive, especially during a time when the economy is weak and digital music theft is at an all time high.
