Click Per Conversation: Pringles Banner

in Digital Marketing 1 Comment

So what makes this banner so unique that it deserved it’s own blog post on Voice?  On top of that, how did this somewhat ugly banner  just earn itself a gold Cyber Lion at Cannes last week.  Well the answer is Pringles figures why take someone to a different party to chat when the current location is all good.  With click-throughs across network buys at an all time low, and it’s not like they are selling anything on pringles.com, so why not have a little fun with the user, by telling a little story with every click.

Go a head and give it a try, I a garuntee you ride it out till the end.  Yes the ad does end…40k can only go so far.

Mark Sanford – Another Republican Embarrassment

in Point of View No Comments

Mark Sanford

I’ve been following this story over the last few days and I have to say that I’m in shock.  Why do politicians cheat?  Why do they lie?  Why do they make it their mission in life to be elected to public office just to live a life of deceit?  Four boys, a successful career, a beautiful wife and a likely shot at the White House in the next election.  What a fool.  What an embarrassment.

With Obama in the White House, the Dems have been on a good run.  Taking office while the country is in turmoil is another advantage – you know, things can only get better.  I hope that is the case.  Most Republicans (especially the conservative type) simply walk around mumbling “a trillion dollars”. I’m not sure they share that viewpoint.

Lastly – Rush Limbaugh as the voice of the GOP.  Come on now people.  Pill popping, cigar smoking and filled with hate – feels like a winner to me ….. NOT!   I feel it necessary to start my preparations for a 2016 run for the GOP nomination.  Note to self – look for a part time job as a community organizer this summer!

Top 10 Esstentials

in Agency Life, Fashion No Comments

One website I visit on a regular basis is Men.Style.com, when it comes to fashion they are pretty up to speed on what to look for.  They also have a nice blog that covers topics outside of the fashion world which keeps the site fresh and new.  One topic they do on a monthly basis, is ask celebrities, designers, musicians, etc what their top 10 essentials are.  Well I figured I would do my own list.  Enjoy.

AM’s TOP 10 ESSTENTIALS

Oliver Peoples MACEO Sunglasses

“It took some time, but I finally gave it and bought a pair of wayfer sunglasses.  Being a sunglasses fan, I was very particluar on which pair I was going to purchase.  I chose these for the slightly larger, masculine attributes, but still retro-inspired look and feel.  These polarized lenses provides superior UV protection and in the end they look nasty with both a tee and a suit.”

Rollasole is Da Bomb!

in Fashion No Comments

rollasole

The best thing for women’s fashion since the Wonder Bra might be the Rollasole. This is essentially a vending machine that distributes flat, comfortable women’s shoes to women in need. Right now these machines are only found in European nightclubs, but hopefully they will soon come to the rescue of stiletto-wearing American women. These life-saving flats are currently being sold for around 5 pounds in Britain (about 8 bucks American).

I am sure most of us females have had at least one occasion where we would part with a few bucks in exchange for nice, comfy shoes–especially after a long night of dancing in sky high heels. I know I have had numerous fun nights that would have been even better if my feet were not slowly dying from shoe pain.

Now for the best part: they are really cute! You can currently buy them in black, gold or silver, but pink is coming soon. Plus, each shoe has a tiny bow on the front.

Lastly, these super-flexible flats can be rolled up and used for future nights out on the town.

So amazing! Rollasole, come to the States a.s.a.p.!

New York Lancers Play For It All Tonight!

After a thrilling shootout win on Tuesday evening against the undefeated New Jersey Rockets, my beloved New York Lancers play in the Atlantic Hockey Spring Season Finals this evening against The Hazuka.  The Lancers made the finals by a complete team effort with all skaters contributing to the overall game plan.  Net minder Brian Essig stood on his head stopping all shootout attempts catapulting the boys in Orange & Black into tonight’s big match-up.

This season the Lancers are 1 and 1 against Hazuka so tonight’s tilt should be entertaining.  Cross your fingers for the good guys this evening.  Game time – 7:45 start in New Jersey!

AgencyLand: Get Ready To Be Schooled – Google Style

in Agency Life, Digital Marketing, Point of View, Technology No Comments

AgencyLand

Google sets the tone for innovation.  I think they do anyway.  Some on the agency side feel they are the evil empire working toward a hidden agenda of taking over the agency world.  Others are more comfortable partnering with them to help work through technical kinks on their product launches.

Yahoo and MSN both work very hard to try and keep pace, however they always seem one step behind.  While the launch of Bing has helped a bit, Google continues to impress with its exhausting pace of new product launches and technology updates.

AgencyLand, which is in beta right now has been designed to be an online education portal for media professionals.  There are case studies, video tutorials, different webinars and an extensive research library.   When I started in this business, I had the privilege of working for a great company – Jordan, McGrath, Case & Taylor.  They took the time to teach, every day.  Every up and coming agency executive had the training that would provide them with the fundamentals of marketing.  These fundamentals help to build a successful career.

Today – the focus is on maximizing profitability.  Training always gets cast aside and as a result the media professional is forced to learn on their own.  That leads to an uneven playing field in terms of knowledge from one media professional to another.  Now with AgencyLand, executives have the opportunity to track the progress of their team, how they are learning, how are they growing and what areas need more attention.

After full launch, it will be interesting to see how participation spikes and thereafter sustains as the months roll on.  As for Google taking over the agency world, we will have to wait and see just when the evil empire decides to make a move for complete agency domination.

Iran: Reporting The News One Tweet At A Time

in Point of View 1 Comment

IranTwitter

Right now – at this very second, Iran is hell on earth!  Those that have been following the news have seen the pictures and amateure videos pour in showing graphic scenes of a corrupt government attack its own citizens.  Some of the footage has been simply horrific.  Night raids on families where the army (The Basij) storms in and takes children, people shot dead in the streets and reports of helicopters dropping acid on the thousands of protesters as a way to disperse the crowd.

The issue at hand, it seems as though Ahmadinejad has secured the nomination of president in a closely contested and heated political race through voter fraud.  After the results of the election were announced, the citizens of Iran turned to the streets in protest.  The governments response has been absolutely absurd.  Immediately after the violence began, the government ordered the press out.  The government’s strategy, with no press to cover the protests they can take any action to silence the people.

Not the case at all – with Twitter and other community sites, the people of Iran will not be silenced.  Although reports cannot be confirmed, Twitter is front and center with Tweets from Iran on EVERYTHING that has taken place.  Pictures.  Videos.  Warnings to other citizens of Iran as to what to expect next.  The people have power and they are united against a sick leader and corrupt government.  They have a voice because of Twitter and other community web sites.  This one is heating up moment by moment.  My thoughts are with those in Iran fighting for their rights and their freedom.

Twitter = FREEDOM!!!!!
