A Facebook x MoMA Experience

MoMA in New York has just launched one of my favorite websites this year, entitled “Summer at MoMA“.  To help visitors plan their next visit to the museum, users can connect the site to their Facebook profile page through Facebook Connect to pull your lifestyle, tastes, likes and dislikes – at that point it scans the info, analyses it and creates a list of exhibits available that match your profile.

Adverblog made a great comment:  If there is a place that contains (almost) everything about you, why should you bother typing in information manually?

Once your personalized reccomendation is presented, you have the option to share it on Facebook or Twitter.  You can also save it and make additional changes such as adding or removing exhibits.

Digital Clock

Digital Clock is a very simple design that does one this really well – accurate time. Designed by Kibardin Design, each figure has self-contained power supply and independent control. A light sensor will switch the clock to an invert mode so it clearly displays the time no matter if it is day or night.

Go, Lance, Go!

tour de france

The Tour De France is coming to its final days, and the winners are being separated from the losers. But, first!

A little background information on the race: For those who think the Tour is just a leisurely bike ride, think again. The Tour is divided into 21 stages and is 2,175 miles long. The course is made up of mountains and flat land, with the riders speeding along at   25mph to up to 68mph when going down mountains. Riders have been said to burn about 10,000 calories in one day. Whew!

Now, here is the latest news: It looks like Lance Armstrong will not be winning his 8th Tour de France this year. Stage 17 of the race finished yesterday and left Lance at an overall standing of fourth place. Instead, it seems that Alberto Contador of Spain will be taking the win, and Lance will need a lot of luck to be on the podium in Paris at all. This is Lance Armstrong’s 8th race after three years out of the Tour, and it seems possible that his absence is having an affect on his race. The crowd favorite this year is the 2007 winner and current leader, Alberto Contador. However, there is still a lot that could happen between now and July 26, the last day of the Tour.

You can follow the race live, or better yet on Twitter. Lance Armstrong has been keeping people updated with his Twitter account on race details, and he currently has over a million followers. – http://twitter.com/lancearmstronG

An Easy Way to Tone up-EasyTone

in Fashion, Point of View No Comments

easytone

Admittedly, it has been extremely hard for me to do any serious exercising this summer. I have done some bike riding, walking, and swimming, but I haven’t really had the time for too much else.

Enter EasyTone, Reebok’s latest women’s sneaker. This sneaker is designed to tone you up while you’re just walking around town. EasyTone has unbalanced pods on the bottom of the shoe that make your muscles work harder, which makes it much easier to tone up, thus EasyTone. The shoes displayed in the above picture are going for 110 dollars, but they also have EasyTone flip flops for only 60 dollars.

These sneakers are fabulous. Now, Reebok just needs to make a dress shoe, acceptable for work, which simultaneously tones your legs and looks good, too!

google moon

You’ve heard of Google Earth, now, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11th Mission, here’s Google Earth… for the Moon! Users can search historical charts that show the six Apollo landing sites, including the ability to watch clips of Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon. One can explore 3D models of space crafts and panoramic photographs taken by the astronauts themselves.

You can take a look for yourself at http://earth.google.com/moon/.

The first day shooting for our webisode project went very well. Visitors to the webisode studio included Saul, Petey (Saul’s adopted Empire penguin) and Obama, who we got a fantastic view of as he drove down 50th. Aside from the technical error with the microphone and a slightly wrinkled green screen, it was a very successful test run. These are a few snap shots from behind the scenes of last Thursday.

No Fish Were Harmed In The Making Of This Ad

fishfranke1

Once again, AdFreak succeeds in fishing out the most interesting and inspiring ways to advertise. Fisch Franke, a Frankfurt seafood restaurant, advertised their seafood cuisine by placing live trout in an aquarium-style ad. This ingenious approach to promote Fische Franke required 600 Liters of water and about 10 trout. The poster attracted a lot of attention, not to mention an increase in traffic for the restaurant itself.

Conde Nast Says Goodbye to Men.Style.com, Hello to GQ.com, Details.com

men-style

It looks like Men.Style.com will be no more. Instead, Conde Nast will be bringing GQ and Details, two of their already in print men’s magazines, to the digital world.  With GQ as Conde Nast’s number one in print men’s fashion brand, it is more appropriate that the online version be named after GQ, which will make it easier for consumers to recognize the site and further establish the GQ brand. Essentially, the switch away from Men.Style.Com is an attempt to match in print magazine brands with a digital version. I wonder if the sister site, Style.com, will transform into just Vogue.com?

Seattle – The Best of the Best!!

Seattle Baby

My thanks to the good people of Seattle for being such wonderful hosts during my short stay. Tons of “Good Mornings” during my sunrise run and “Hey, have a great day” as I left the hotel for meetings.  Brilliant sunshine, incredible views and A TERRIFIC DAY OF MEETINGS really made this leg of my trip spectacular.  My next stop – Big D for about 30 hrs or so.  Looking forward to seeing old friends and new partners.

More to come…
